Frequently Asked Questions:

WHAT IS HYDROSEEDING?

HydroSeeding is a planting process in which a mix of seed, hydro mulch, fertilizer and a bonding agent is sprayed onto the desired lawn areas.  The hydroseed mix is brought to your location in a large tank and sprayed over the site in a uniform layer.

HOW DOES HYDROSEEDING WORK?

Virtually any type of seed that can be planted by traditional seed can also be hydro seeded. This includes sun or shade lawn seeds, athletic field mixes, pasture mixes, native grasses, wildflowers, roadside mixes and erosion control mixes. The hydroseed mix is rich with nutrients, the mulch in the mix helps keep the soil moist, and the binder acts like a “glue” to hold things in place and prevent wash-out.  All of these factors enable the seed to germinate quickly and produce exceptional results for your lawn.

ADVANTAGES OF HYDROSEEDING OVER BROADCAST (DRY) SEEDING

  • Fast germination times
  • Better moisture retention over the life of your lawn
  • Better seed to soil interaction for a healthier lawn
  • No weed seed, unlike straw or hay processes that can actually fill your lawn with weeds
  • Comparable cost with much better results
  • Ease of installation in areas that are difficult or impossible to dry seed
  • No extra work, like straw or netting to remove after installation
  • A simple and very uniform application process
  • Better erosion control that holds your soil in place much better than dry seeding
